Chelsea have reportedly exercised their option to extend Olivier Giroud’s contract until 2021.
Giroud was due to become a free agent at the end of the season and only stayed put in January as Chelsea failed to source a replacement, amidst interest from Inter and Lazio.
However, Sky Sport Italia is now reporting the Blues have opted to prolong the striker’s deal, keeping him at Stamford Bridge for a further year.
It comes after Inter were thought to have offered the 33-year-old a deal until 2022.
Sky maintains they and – to a lesser extent – Lazio are still interested, but both sides will now have to negotiate with the English club directly.
Giroud has made just nine starts this season, scoring three goals.
