Dani Osvaldo gave a typically outrageous interview in Argentina, including a Roma bar brawl, too much information about Francesco Totti and hating Cesare Prandelli.
The striker is still going with Banfield, returning to football after a break so he could focus on his band and taking part in Italy’s version of Dancing with the Stars.
“I was about to get killed in a bar brawl in Rome,” Osvaldo told TNT Sports. “I asked Totti and Daniele De Rossi to accompany me and sort things out. I’m not stupid…”

His admiration for Giallorossi captain Totti was evident in the description of a conversation they had.
“I told him that in my view, his wife had to be cheating on him, because there was no way he could be this perfect. He had a handsome face and, I don’t want to get into too many details here, but had no problems in the private parts department either. He was the best player I ever worked with. He didn’t even have bad breath, it was just all positive!
“There had to be something wrong with him, right? But no, his marriage was very happy too.”
Osvaldo does not hold back in his criticism, especially when it comes to former Italy coach Prandelli, as their feud is still going six years later.
“I had scored six or seven goals in qualifying, I was first choice and had the Number 10 shirt, but he left me out of the 2014 World Cup squad because the newspapers said I was Argentinean and not Italian, so he ought to call someone else.
“I hope he’s having a horrible time during this quarantine. When he called and asked me to join him at Galatasaray, I said not even for €50m. The worst part of it is that he didn’t even tell me I wasn’t in the World Cup squad, I only found out through the media. I was crying and wanted to die at that moment, because I deserved to go to the tournament in Brazil.”
Yet Osvaldo also confessed he had at first been ready to reject the Italy call-up when it came.
“They rang up and asked if I wanted to play for Italy and I said I’d think about it. I was in the same hotel room as Gabriel Heinze at the time and he said: ‘Don’t be an idiot, call back and accept, they wear Dolce and Gabbana when travelling!’ So I said yes.”
