Football Italia calcio quiz - Serie A 1992-93

Think you know your Capocannoniere from your catenaccio? Test your Serie A knowledge with Football Italia’s calcio quiz, 1992-93 edition!

1992 was the year most British eyes turned to Serie A since the days of Jimmy Greaves at Milan and John Charles at Juventus, as Paul Gascoigne joined Lazio.

It was the year Football Italia launched on Channel 4, and that the first edition of Football Italia magazine was published. Gazza was a media sensation, on the front and back pages of the newspapers in his home country, and after his tears at Italia 90, already indelibly linked with football on the peninsula. His time at Lazio was one of injuries and elation, controversy and chaos. The Biancolesti got the full Gascoigne experience, and he remains a cult hero to this day.

But 1992-93 wasn’t all about the boy from Tyneside. It was the season Gheorghe Hagi moved to Brescia from Real Madrid, falling square in the pomp of Fabio Capello’s great Milan side as the Rossoneri won the second of three consecutive Scudetti – and it was the season a certain Francesco Totti made his Roma debut.

So how much do you remember about that season, Gazza and all? Click the quiz to get started, post your score in the comments below – and buona fortuna!

That Milan team was awesome. Despite the 'Galacticos' n super-squads of later yrs I still think that Milan squad is probably the strongest in depth from defence thru to attack that I've ever seen in my life-time! In names as well as in practice. Many teams was beaten before kick-off. Lazio n Pescara had a go but even if u went in front, u risked angering them n conceding 7/8! Savicevic,Gullit,Ancelotti,Boban,Papin,Simone,De Napoli n that's just the subs bench of top of my head!
