Claudio Marchisio reveals he personally “told off” Paul Pogba for making the mistake of leaving Juventus for Manchester United. “I hope he returns, it’d be good for both parties.”
The now-retired midfielder spoke to Sport Mediaset about the on-going pressure campaign behind the scenes to bring Pogba back to Turin.
“Last year I met him at a private event and told him off, saying he got it wrong when deciding to go to Manchester and should’ve remained with the Bianconeri,” said Marchisio.

“Now things have changed a bit, the Juve midfield has changed, but I hope he returns, because it’d be good for both parties. He already knows Serie A, would increase the quality in a squad that is formidable anyway.”
Maurizio Sarri has Juve in first place in Serie A, albeit by just one point, despite criticism of his team’s performances.
“I always liked the way Sarri interprets football, especially at Napoli, but also when he won the Europa League with Chelsea,” assured Marchisio.
“Now there’s a lot at stake in Turin, but it’s not easy to bring ideas from one club to another. He is doing what was asked of him, which is challenging for the Champions League and top of the Serie A table.”
Now that Marchisio has retired, he is thinking about his future role in the sport.
“I don’t think that my destiny is to be a coach on the bench. It’d be nice to follow Pavel Nedved’s footsteps in joining the directorial staff, because a former player who knows the dressing room and the city can act as a bond between the squad and club.”
