RB Leipzig’s sporting director has warned that his club can no longer afford the €29m to make Patrik Schick’s loan from Roma permanent.
Leipzig’s €29m option to buy Schick only becomes active once they qualify for the Champions League, but Markus Krosche admits the striker will only stay if Roma accept a reduced sum.
“It won’t be possible for us to pay the full amount for Schick’s signature,” Krosche told Sport Bild.
“We want to find a solution.”
The post-coronavirus transfer market is set to be swamped with trade deals, given no sides have received any income since March.
The 24-year-old has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 19 appearances for the Bundesliga high-fliers this season.
