However, the medical protocol agreed with the FIGC this week has been slammed from all quarters as anything from impractical to impossible.

A showdown is in the offing and time is running out, as group training is meant to start from May 18, with an idea to play Serie A games from June 13.
However, the medical protocol agreed with the FIGC this week has been slammed from all quarters as anything from impractical to impossible.
It requires the entire squad to go into quarantine for 15 days if one player or member of staff tests positive for COVID-19.
That means that if there’s just one case, even if it hasn’t spread to the others, the season is effectively over for that team.
The Players’ Association and Agents’ Association released statements today demanding changes to the protocol, while club medics have been vocal in their protests.
They are particularly unsettled by the fact club medics are held legally liable if someone under their care contracts COVID-19, even if it happened outside of the training ground.
The only way of enforcing this protocol and finishing the season would be keeping the entire squad in a training retreat with staff for the rest of the campaign, which will likely not end until July 31, or well into August if they are in the Champions League or Europa League.
Some clubs are simply not equipped to hold them all in there for that amount of time, including Inter, as La Repubblica claim director Beppe Marotta called the protocol “inapplicable and senseless.”
There are only 27 rooms currently at the Pinetina training ground, not enough to hold everyone, especially if there is a positive case and quarantine required.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the clubs will ask the Lega Serie A to go back to the Government and FIGC tomorrow, demanding more changes to the medical protocol.
