Juve boss Maurizio Sarri is said to be no longer counting on Pjanic, amidst speculation he could swap sides with Jorginho, Arthur and – to a lesser degree – Leandro Paredes.

However, the Bosnian told Laurent Agouazi – Under-19 assistant coach of his former team Metz – on Instagram: “Juventus are a family, a club of the highest level.

“When you see the trophies they’ve won, you tell yourself that you have to add to them. It’s an extraordinary club.”

The 30-year-old was more of an attacking midfielder in his younger days, so who convinced him to play deeper?

“Before coming to Juve, [Max] Allegri told me he wanted to put me in front of the defence. I got used to it gradually, he told me where I had to improve.

“However, that doesn’t stop me from going back to the position of ‘mezz’ala’.”
