There are reports former midfielder Mark van Bommel has put himself forward to become the new Milan coach.

The 43-year-old Dutchman is currently a free agent after his spell on the PSV Eindhoven bench came to an end in December 2019.

According to Calciomercato.it, Van Bommel and his entourage contacted Milan owners to put his name forward as a replacement for Stefano Pioli next season.

The first choice remains Ralf Rangnick, but CEO Ivan Gazidis is willing to listen to other candidates.
