There are reports former midfielder Mark van Bommel has put himself forward to become the new Milan coach.
The 43-year-old Dutchman is currently a free agent after his spell on the PSV Eindhoven bench came to an end in December 2019.
According to Calciomercato.it, Van Bommel and his entourage contacted Milan owners to put his name forward as a replacement for Stefano Pioli next season.
The first choice remains Ralf Rangnick, but CEO Ivan Gazidis is willing to listen to other candidates.
Van Bommel wore the Milan jersey from January 2011 to June 2021, winning the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup.
His management career is not that vast, as he was assistant manager for the Saudi Arabia and Australia teams for a brief period.
