Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso claims ‘Italian football is currently divided into two groups who are continually clashing’ and the ‘survival of some Serie A clubs’ is in doubt.
The FIGC, Government and Lega Serie A finally agreed a training protocol this week, but another protocol has to be worked out for matches to resume after the coronavirus pandemic.
“The decisive factors for the rest of the season, and therefore the survival of some Serie A clubs, are down to the contractual clauses that the Lega Serie A has with Sky, and also the Government,” Commisso told America Oggi.
“If the Government decides to suspend the season, then Sky would be forced to pay. However, if the season resumes and is then suspended due to ‘public safety’ concerns, then Sky could back out of the payment, which would have a devastating effect for everyone.
“In any case, the powerful figures in Italian football remain decisive. Right now, those are divided into two groups who are continually clashing. If they can reach an agreement, then the season can resume, otherwise I don’t see how we can find a solution.”
