Ralf Rangnick has, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, reassured Hakan Calhanoglu that he would remain a protagonist at Milan under his leadership.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the German coach, who seems close to take over at San Siro this summer, wants to keep the former Bayer Leverkusen man at San Siro and has been in touch with the versatile Turkey international.

The 26-year-old’s contract with the Rossoneri expires in June 2021 and the former Bundesliga star has struggled to convince the club’s faithful at San Siro.

He has only shown glimpses of what he contributed at Leverkusen before his €23.3m move to Milan and the newspaper claims Rangnick tried to bring him back to Germany last summer.

The No10 has, despite being targeted by criticism from some sections of the fans, been a mainstay under the three last coaches during his time in the fashion capital and if Rangnick should arrive this summer, it might look like he will continue to add to his 116 games in the Rossoneri shirt so far.
