There are extraordinary reports that Rocco Commisso is ready to walk away from Fiorentina in frustration at the stadium situation.
According to the Corriere Fiorentino newspaper, the President is seriously considering a swift exit just a year after taking charge of the Serie A club.
Notably, Fiorentinanews.com – who are usually on top of stories coming from within the Viola ranks – found nobody ready to deny the suggestion from their sources.
It could be a message that Commisso wants to send out to the Government and local council, because the law proposed by director Joe Barone to make the reconstruction of stadiums easier for new investors was shelved by Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora.
As things stand, Commisso is not allowed to reconstruct or refurbish the Stadio Artemio Franchi because it is at least 70 years old and therefore considered a protected piece of architecture, while there are hundreds of loopholes and stages to go through before he’ll be given permission to build a new arena elsewhere.
This is the problem that has beset owners in Serie A, above all Roma and Lazio.
