Reports this morning claim Roma are still hopeful of negotiating a permanent deal for Manchester United loanee Chris Smalling.
Roma have yet to agree a fee for Smalling, but the defender continues to make no secret of his desire to stay at the Olimpico.
Now, Corriere dello Sport states the Englishman personally informed coach Paulo Fonseca of that desire ‘a few days ago’ and that his camp are working ‘to find a solution’.
Nicolo Schira, meanwhile, writes the Giallorossi are holding out for a discount on the €25m requested by United.
With that in mind, the transfer expert believes the two clubs could resume talks in the coming weeks.
Smalling, who turns 31 in November, has played 28 times for Roma this season, scoring twice.
