Lazio chief medic Ivo Pulcini has denied rumours that goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha tested positive for COVID-19. ‘That’s fake news.’

The reports emerged in local media around Rome, but proved loud enough for Pulcini to deny it in an interview with Radio Punto Nuovo.

“That’s fake news and there is a lot of it about at the moment,” said the Lazio medic.

“I won’t get into details, but I spoke to the people involved and we had a good laugh about. Strakosha does not have COVID-19, nor does anyone else at Lazio.

“We were the first in Italy to send the team home and will reap the rewards for that early approach.”

The Biancocelesti banned their players from leaving Rome during the lockdown, unlike most other Serie A clubs, who allowed their squads to fly back to their home countries.
