Bologna director Marco Di Vaio confirms Sinisa Mihajlovic is not the member of staff who is suspected to have COVID-19. ‘We are awaiting more tests.’

A statement was released this afternoon, announcing “the latest round of medical tests revealed one suspected case of COVID-19 for a member of staff.

“Pending further test results, the team will take the precaution of training individually and at different times tomorrow, without any use of communal facilities.

“In the event that further tests return positive, the entire Team Group will be kept in an isolated training retreat.”

It was at first reported to be a player, then noted this was a member of staff.

This inevitably raised some worrying questions, as coach Mihajlovic is in the extremely at risk category after months of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

Mihajlovic was diagnosed with leukaemia almost a year ago.

“In order to reassure everyone, considering his health, we can say it is a member of staff, but not the coach,” director Di Vaio told Calciomercato.com.

“We are awaiting more tests tomorrow or the day after, so if that is confirmed positive, then the entire Team Group will go into a training retreat.

“It would be disappointing for the lads, because they’d have to spend 14 days away from their families, but it changes very little in terms of the training schedule.

“This staff member is at home, so if we do go into a retreat, he will remain quarantined.”
