Milan are reportedly preparing to renew with captain Alessio Romagnoli to avoid complications in the future.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed the Rossoneri are working on a new deal for the centre-back, who is tied to the club until June 2022.
The expiration date is still far away but the newspaper writes that the Diavolo are prepared to offer him an extension already, as they are currently fighting to keep goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and want to avoid the same scenario with Romagnoli next summer.
Donnarumma is currently tied to a deal expiring in June 2021 and could start discussing terms with other clubs in January and move on a free transfer next year.
Milan could therefore be forced to sell this summer, unless the Italy goalkeeper signs a new deal at San Siro, hence why CEO Ivan Gazidis is ready to move in advance for Romagnoli.
The captain, however, seems content in Milan and does not seem eager to move on. A new contract should therefore come without any complications from either side.
