Lega Serie B President Mauro Balata confirms Italy’s second division will resume from June 20, while the Lega Pro is considering play-offs and play-outs.

The medical protocol for matches was agreed today, allowing Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora to give the all-clear for a return to the pitch.

Serie A can resume from June 20, while the Coppa Italia semi-finals and Final are earmarked in for June 13-14 and 17.

“Serie B will restart from June 20, as we had already deliberated the date and now there is the OK from the Government, for which we thank Minister Spadafora,” Lega Serie B chief Balata told news agency ANSA.

“Starting up again is a wonderful thing.”

There are also reports the authorities are moving towards Lega Pro/Serie C requests to end the regular season early, as most of the clubs are not equipped to cover the medical protocol.

Instead, they could be allowed to play only the remaining play-offs and play-outs, providing more fairness to the promotion and relegation process.

The group winners were due to be promoted anyway, with a fourth spot in Serie B going to the winner of play-offs.
