Spanish newspaper AS insists Barcelona are still trying to push Arthur Melo into accepting a swap deal with Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The Brazilian has stated repeatedly that he has no intention of leaving Camp Nou, which has thrown a rather large spanner in the works for his club.

He cost €31m from Gremio in the summer of 2018 and has not delivered on the early promise, as the Blaugrana consider him too inconsistent.

Although the 23-year-old has made it clear he does not want to quit Barcelona, the report in AS maintains the club is still trying to push him towards the exit.

They want Pjanic and Maurizio Sarri is eager to get the best out of Arthur in Turin, but the player’s stubbornness is the only thing holding up the deal.

Arthur made 23 competitive appearances so far this season, contributing four goals and four assists.

However, he had some ankle and hip injury concerns in recent months and dropped down the pecking order.

His contract with Barcelona runs to June 2024.
