Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso is in mourning after his sister Francesca died at the age of 37, having been in intensive care since February.
Following the match against Sampdoria, the 42-year-old Napoli coach left the post-match interviews to visit his sister in the hospital, as she was taken ill that evening.
She had been in hospital ever since, but her condition worsened and she died this morning.
Today, the Partenopei coach learned the tragic news during training at Castel Volturno.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, she had been suffering from a rare illness for many years, undergoing several operations.
Francesca Gattuso died in Varese and had previously worked as a secretary for many years at Milan HQ in via Aldo Rossi.
