Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has quashed reports regarding Ciro Immobile’s proposed move to Napoli: "There has never been contact."
The 30-year-old moved to Lazio in July 27 and has bagged 116 goals for the Aquile since his return to Italy, including 27 in 26 Serie A matches this campaign.
As Immobile is gunning for former Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain’s record of 36 goals in a single season, the Partenopei have appeared in links with the former Torino star.
Sporting director Tare moved swiftly to stop the rumours from spinning out of control, claiming that the Italy international’s future remains at the Olimpico.
“There has never been contact or a request from Napoli for Immobile,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “Also, because Immobile is Lazio and vice versa.”
“I think, I hope and I want it to stay like that for many years.”
