Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali feels ‘good enough’ to ‘reach the top’ and has vowed to make the ‘right sacrifices’ to get there.
The midfielder has emerged as a target for giants in Italy and abroad this season, impressing despite sitting bottom with Brescia in Serie A.
Tonali gave an in-depth interview with Sportweek and La Gazzetta dello Sport has released a brief preview of tomorrow’s piece.
The 20-year-old, who helped the Rondinelle win promotion from Serie B last season, has stepped up and contributed five assists and one goal in his first season among the elite and reports in Italy have claimed Inter and Juventus fight for his signature.
“I know that with the right sacrifices, I can reach the top of the world,” he told Sportsweek. “I haven’t achieved half of what I have in mind, but I feel good enough to make it.”
The Italy international has been likened to legendary Andrea Pirlo, who also came through the ranks at Brescia and played for Inter, Milan and Juventus during an illustrious career.
“No, I’m not his heir,” Tonali added. “To begin with, I don’t have his long, millimetre precise, through balls. And I do envy him.”
Brescia, who sit nine points behind safety in the League, return to fight for survival on June 22, when they travel to Florence to face Beppe Iachini’s Fiorentina.
