Paulo Fonseca says Roma have made his dream of ‘coaching a big European club’ come true and that he now has his eyes on silverware.

Fonseca moved to Roma last summer after having won three domestic doubles with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Giallorossi failed to put up a challenge for the Scudetto or Coppa Italia in his first season at the helm, but they could still end up with the Europa League.

“I’ve been lucky enough to become whatever I wanted to be,” the 47-year-old told Roma TV.

“I’ve been lucky enough to become whatever I wanted to be,” the 47-year-old told Roma TV.

“As a boy, I dreamed of being a footballer and I became one. After that, I dreamed of being a coach and I became one.

“I dreamed of coaching a big European club and I’m coaching one. On a professional level, I feel very much satisfied.

“Now I dream of winning important trophies, the Champions League or one of the main European leagues, like the Italian one.

“More generally, I dream of being happy every day and living life in a peaceful way. For me, happiness is also being happy outside of football.”
