Brescia have categorically denied a report that claimed President Massimo Cellino was ready to sell up and buy another English club.

Tuttomercatoweb ran a story earlier today on how Cellino had grown tired of Italian football and was planning to reinvest in Charlton Athletic, Reading or Birmingham City.

However, Brescia wrote in a statement on their official website: “With regards to the news published today by Tuttomercatoweb.com, with particular reference to the possibility of Brescia Calcio being sold, the club categorically denies what has been wrongly reported and would like to clarify that the story is false, tendentious and without any foundation.”

The 63-year-old previously owned Leeds United between 2014 and 2017, but his time with the EFL Championship side was marred by controversy.

He ended up selling to Andrea Radrizzani, who helped Suning Group with its takeover of Inter, and bought Brescia before the 2017-18 campaign.

Despite the club’s denial, Cellino is on record as saying ‘I’ve got some money put away, so if things don’t change, I will go back to England’ just a month ago.
