Parma boss Roberto D’Aversa is the third Serie A coach to confirm he had COVID-19. ‘I had only minor symptoms, so it wasn’t confirmed until the blood test.’

Like Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini and Fiorentina tactician Beppe Iachini, D’Aversa too did not have a swab test at the time because his symptoms were not considered enough to warrant a swab.

“I had a bit of a temperature for a few days after the game with SPAL,” D’Aversa told Parma Today, referring to the 1-0 defeat on March 9.

“It was nothing major, so I didn’t do the swab test and we couldn’t tell if I had COVID-19 or not. It was only confirmed with the blood test finding the antibodies over the last few days.

“I get a temperature more or less every year around this time, it was just 37C. I spent the lockdown with my family, something that as a player first and coach after I haven’t been able to do for this amount of time.”

Parma will take part in the first Serie A game after the lockdown, facing Torino on June 20.

“I have positive sensations, as being able to train and start talking about football again is wonderful.”
