The Granata have confirmed injuries to midfielder Baselli and forward Verdi in recent weeks, with the former undergoing a knee surgery on Monday.

Yesterday, Verdi followed the 28-year-old to the treatment table, but Longo refuses to use the absence of two key players as an excuse when football resumes this month.

“I won’t admit having an excuse, we must start again with optimism and belief,” the coach told Torino Channel.

“We have to bring back the confidence in the group, something we lacked in the last period of the competition, because we have the potential to express ourselves differently than we did in the matches before the interruption.

Torino have lost six consecutive League matches and have been dragged into an intense relegation battle, but Longo looks forward to return and hopes to bounce back immediately against Parma on June 20.

“We all have to think positively and regain our self-confidence through our upcoming performances,” he added. “I’m sure we will, already against Parma.

“I don’t want my team to have any excuses in mind. We all start on equal terms, having to play 13 games in a month and a half. The ability to adapt to this unusual situation will make the difference.”
