Monza CEO Adriano Galliani has claimed he wasn’t unfaithful to Milan when he moved back to help his former team win promotion.

The Biancorossi have climbed to the second tier of Italian football under Silvio Berlusconi’s ownership and Adriano Galliani followed the former Milan President back to where he started.

“There were some requests, but I won’t mention any names. Joining Monza was not a betrayal of Milan,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “Before going to Milan, I was at Monza and then I went back to the team of my city.

“I never thought about going to another team that was not Milan, Monza is not another club, but the side from my hometown.”

President Silvio Berlusconi claimed Monza are aiming for Serie A after winning promotion and Galliani was later asked about the possibilities of facing Milan in Serie A with his current team.

“This is a Marzullian question. We will think about it when it happens.”

Galliani also insisted that he will not be able to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Monza.

“I keep in touch with Ibrahimovic, he’s an old friend. But that hypothesis is impossible. Also because of the regulations. In fact, in Serie B, there’s a limit of players in the squad born after 1997.”
