“It’s true that a few Italian clubs were interested, but I cannot add much more than that,” Olmo told Spanish newspaper AS.

The 22-year-old made the transfer for €19m from Dinamo Zagreb and signed a contract to June 2024.

“It’s true that a few Italian clubs were interested, but I cannot add much more than that,” Olmo told Spanish newspaper AS.

“At the end of the day, I decided to go to Leipzig because I thought it was the best decision for my career. I was convinced by the phone calls with director of sport Mark Krosche and coach Julian Nagelsmann, they have an important project and work well with young players.

“I think this is the youngest squad in the Bundesliga, on average, and that is an element that pushed me towards them.”
