Italy CT Roberto Mancini has claimed the Azzurri will host a ‘beautiful’ Euro 2020 and ‘make a good impression’ before he listed his top three coaches and players during his career.
The former Sampdoria forward enjoyed a stellar career with Bologna, Lazio and Sampdoria and has been equally successful as a coach.
After having led Italy to the European Championship with 10 wins in 10 games, the Azzurri must wait until next summer as the competition was due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are still going to play a beautiful Euro 2020,” Mancini told Rai Uno. “We hope to fill up the stadiums with spectators and we will make a good impression.”
During the Top 10 show on Rai Uno, he went on to list his favourite players and coaches from his own career as a player.
Coaches: “In third place, I put Tarcisio Burgnich, who gave me my debut in Serie A. He had courage to put me on at 16.
“At second, Vujadin Boskov. It was a great experience and he made us win the championship with Sampdoria.
“First, I have Sven-Göran Eriksson. He was like a brother to me. They are all different coaches and I learned a lot from them.
Players: “At third I have Ronaldo, he was a phenomenon, I played with him. At second, I have [Gianluca] Vialli, a brother. Obviously at first place I have to say Diego Armando Maradona.”
