Venezia are at risk of missing the Serie B restart after one of their players tested positive for COVID-19.
Venezia announced in a statement this evening that a positive test was detected on June 12, in the fifth round of swabs.
The player’s identity was not disclosed, but the entire squad has since gone into an isolated training retreat.
Players and technical staff must now wait for the results of their latest swabs before a decision can be made on them exiting quarantine.
It also remains to be seen whether the Arancioneroverdi can play their first two Serie B games since the lockdown was eased against Pordenone and Ascoli over the next fortnight.
That is because the health protocol stipulates teams with even just one positive case must isolate for 14 days.
Venezia midfielder Antonio Junior Vacca tested positive for coronavirus on April 6, becoming Serie B’s first case, but recovered three weeks later.
