Fabio Cannavaro has praised his former teammate Gianluigi Buffon as an ‘exceptional person’, as the Juventus goalkeeper aims for Roberto Mancini’s record.
The former Italy international has won the Coppa Italia five times and if the Bianconeri overcome Napoli on Wednesday, he will equal Roberto Mancini’s record of six Cup crowns during his career.
Former Napoli and Juventus defender Cannavaro played with Buffon both at club and national level and has hailed the veteran.
“You don’t want to realise that it has to end,” Cannavaro told Il Corriere dello Sport. “But Gigi is amazing, always.
“He’s an exceptional person, not just an extraordinary athlete. So, if you have fun, continue. But not for too long, eh.”
Maurizio Sarri leads Juventus in his first Final tomorrow and will be gunning for his first title in Italy, having picked up his first ever in the Europa League with Chelsea last season.
