Rome has been retained as one of the 12 host cities for Euro 2020, which will start on June 11 next year.
The Olimpico was scheduled to open the European Championship on Monday with Italy-Turkey, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the tournament to be pushed back a year.
Nonetheless, it was confirmed by the UEFA Executive Committee this afternoon that the stadium would remain a host venue and continue to stage the same fixtures as originally planned.
Therefore, Italy-Turkey is kept as the first game of the revised Euro 2020 schedule, on June 11 next year.
The Olimpico will also continue to host the Azzurri’s Group A matches against Switzerland and Wales, on June 16 and 20 respectively, as well as one of the quarter-finals on July 3.
The Final will be played at Wembley Stadium in London on July 11.
