Former Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli blasted coach Maurizio Sarri after the Coppa Italia defeat. ‘It’s unacceptable the team still doesn’t have an identity.’

The Bianconeri are one point clear at the top of the Serie A table, but lost the Italian Supercoppa to Lazio and Coppa Italia Final to Napoli.

“They had a good performance against Inter three months ago, but with both Milan and Napoli there was lots of possession and few shots on goal,” Cobolli Gigli told Radio Sportiva.

“They had a good performance against Inter three months ago, but with both Milan and Napoli there was lots of possession and few shots on goal,” Cobolli Gigli told Radio Sportiva.

“What I complain about with Sarri, someone I really do not admire as a person, is that he said Juve lost the Final because Napoli took better penalties in the shoot-out. In my view, we lost because we weren’t determined enough.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has also seemingly lost his form in the absence of injured Gonzalo Higuain, as Sarri continues to tinker with his tactics.

“It’s unacceptable that Juventus still doesn’t have an identity. By signing Ronaldo, Juve gave up on team football in favour of focusing on a soloist. Max Allegri managed to make it work, but Sarri hasn’t.

“It takes a special coach to deal with star players and Sarri could get them to do what he wanted at Napoli, but he can’t do that with Ronaldo. If he manages to win Serie A and go all the way in the Champions League, then he can keep his job, otherwise it’s best to part ways as friends now.”
