Moreno Longo was pleased with the fact Torino ‘fought to the bitter end’ for the three points against Udinese. ‘This is the first step towards remembering the Toro DNA.’
This was his first victory on the Toro bench since replacing Walter Mazzarri, and ended the team’s seven-match losing streak, but the performance was a long way from convincing.
“Playing every three days, this type of match can become complicated. You go in front and then can’t hang on to the ball the way you’d like,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“We deserved to beat Parma three days ago, a side that today won 4-1 away to Genoa. We must take nothing for granted, because every game is different and an isolated incident.
“I am happy for the victory exclusively for the team, because they were coming from a run of defeats. We needed to rediscover our pride, the attitude to show we are alive and in the running for our targets.
“We fought to the bitter end tonight, it’s a long, tough road ahead of us, but this is the first step towards remembering the Toro DNA. Our objective now is to secure safety.”
