Zdenek Zeman admits to finding Atalanta’s form ‘strange’ but maintains the Scudetto race is still open because Juventus ‘aren’t playing that well’.

Juve were the big winners in Serie A’s top four yesterday as Inter drew 3-3 with Sassuolo and Lazio lost 3-2 to Atalanta, and the Bianconeri can go seven points at the top with victory over Lecce tomorrow.

However, Zeman is ‘amazed’ by how the Dea have picked up from where they left off before the coronavirus pandemic, given Bergamo was among the Italian cities worst hit by COVID-19.

“Football like this is like a dish without salt, tasteless,” the 73-year-old told Rai Radio, referring to the lack of fans at games.

“Without the fans there’s no show, no pleasure. Lazio gave Juve a hand and helped them yesterday.

“After they went 2-0 up, I thought they would hold on. However, the league’s up for grabs because Juve aren’t playing that well.

“Atalanta are strangely still going strong, considering they come from Bergamo, where there have been more problems than elsewhere.

“Why strangely? Because with the problems that were in Bergamo, I thought they wouldn’t have enough time to prepare and work.

“The Dea have amazed me. If Malinovskyi then second-guessed those goals…”
