Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli wants to remain at the Artemio Franchi and hopes to ‘continue developing’ together with Federico Chiesa.
The two have been writing headlines in recent months, having gained a big following after taking on roles as protagonists in Florence.
Castrovilli returned from his loan at Cremonese last summer and his performances in the middle of the park has given the 23-year-old a lot of attention ahead of the upcoming transfer market, but he seems set on staying at Fiorentina.
“The admiration is pleasing but I’m very attached to Florence,” he told Tuttosport. “I’m fine here and I have everyone’s trust.
“If me and Chiesa will continue together? These are decisions that affect the club and Federico. All I can say is that Chiesa is a great footballer and it would be nice to continue our growth together.”
Fiorentina, currently 13th in Serie A, drew 1-1 with Brescia in their first match after the break and prepare to face Lazio on Saturday.
Castrovilli looked at the Scudetto race, where Juventus currently sit four points clear at the top but doesn’t think Lazio will give up.
“I believe there’s a lot left of the championship, there are still 11 games to go and there several direct meetings on the agenda.
“In my opinion, nothing has been decided. Over the years, Lazio have strengthened a squad that was already very competitive and this season they are reaping the benefits of their work.
“I’m sure they will fight until the end with Juventus and Inter.”
