Torino’s players have agreed to give up part of their salaries to help the club move on from the coronavirus pandemic.
As per an official statement, the part waived will be paid out if Torino achieve certain objectives this season, with survival in Serie A likely to be one of them.
“Torino Football Club can announce that an agreement was signed today with players of the first team over earnings for the 2019-20 season, in light of the emergency caused by COVID 19,” it read in full.
“The agreement provides for the waiver of a portion of their initially-agreed salaries, which has been converted into prize money, linked to the achievement of sporting objectives agreed between all the parties.
“Torino FC would like to thank all the professionals who shared and signed this agreement, which also shows a sense of responsibility and unity of purpose in such a delicate situation.”
The Granata lost seven on the bounce before the lockdown but remain unbeaten since the restart with a win and a draw.
