SPAL coach Luigi Di Biagio has claimed he ‘tried to put Napoli in difficulty’ and was happy with his players reaction: “It was a good test to continue hoping.”
Napoli won 3-1 on Sunday and the SPAL tactician confessed he didn’t expect points against Gennaro Gattuso’s men at the San Paolo.
“I tried to put Napoli in difficulty by playing two strikers,” he said at a press conference. “In the first half we didn’t succeed due to their dribbling abilities.
“The few times we managed to break the pressure, we put them in difficulty. These are not the games to score points but, in the end, I didn’t feel sorry for the guys.
“The two up top went quite well, but they need more support. It was a good test to keep hoping. We must try to recover from a difficult situation.”
SPAL currently sit bottom of Serie A, eight points behind Sampdoria on safety and have 10 games remaining, starting with Milan at home on Wednesday.
