The Biancocelesti beat Fiorentina 2-1 at the weekend, equalising from the spot after Felipe Caicedo seemed to go looking for contact with Bartlomiej Dragowski.

When it was also pointed out that Lazio have received more penalties than any other team in Serie A this season, their official spokesman had a message.

“Media pressure is being created on purpose, as they want to cause us problems while we chase Juventus,” Diaconale told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“It’s all based on a lie, as if we had invented some sort of superpower behind the scenes able to manoeuvre referees. It’s a strange myth and obviously has no similarity to real life.

“I keep hearing this legend of a supposed superpower that President Claudio Lotito has, whereas historically the superpower in football is in very different clubs to ours.

“It hardly seems as if Lazio are the side who won all the Scudetto titles in recent years…”
