“A long and mixed season to an end, and I’m proud of my time here, I’ll miss all the fans and my teammates,” wrote the 30-year-old on Instagram.

“I’m thankful for all your love and support through this year. Wishing everyone at [Cagliari] best of luck for the remaining part of the season!”

Olsen returns to Roma, although he will not be able to take part in any of their remaining games this term.

He has been linked with a switch to Portuguese side Sporting CP in recent weeks.
