Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has ‘great expectations’ for Thursday's match but fears ‘great’ Napoli will be tough opponents in Bergamo.
La Dea were on a great run before the interruption but has kept the ship steady, securing nine points in three games after the break.
But coach Gasperini has pointed out that the players cant rest and must ‘reset and start from scratch’ before every match.
“The spirits are high, we started with three wins,” Gasperini told the club’s official website. “It was fundamental, but we have to reset ahead of every game and start from scratch.
“It’s a similar but complex situation for everyone.”
Atalanta are on an unbeaten run of eight games in Serie A, having won six on the bounce, but Gasperini expects tough battle for the three points against Napoli tomorrow.
“They’re a great team and the previous trend was a bit strange. They are doing very well, showing their value.
“At the beginning of the season, we thought they would play for the title with Lazio and Inter. They had some problems, but now they’re coming out of them.
“I fear their value, they have a great squad with many variables and quality players. It’s a team built for a much bigger target.”
The 62-year-old must cope without Ruslan Malinovskiy and Jose Luis Palomino, but expects a ‘great game’ against the Partenopei.
“Malinovskiy is suspended and we have some problems with Palomino, but the rest should be there,” he added.
“It’s undoubtedly a game with great expectations, both because of the table and the moments the two sides are in.
“Napoli are capable of making an important run. We are focused on our target, we know that despite the advantage, there are many points left and we must conquer them.”
