Inter open talks for Emerson

Hot on the heels of Achraf Hakimi’s arrival, Inter have opened talks with Chelsea to sign Italy left-back Emerson Palmieri.

Hakimi finally joined Inter on Thursday in a €45m deal to become Inter’s first-choice right wingback next season.

Now, Sky Sport Italia is reporting Antonio Conte wants Emerson to be his left wingback and has therefore instructed the Nerazzurri to pursue him.

Although no official bid has been made yet, the broadcaster confirms the Beneamata have begun negotiations with Chelsea for the 25-year-old.

The former Roma defender followed Conte to Stamford Bridge in January 2018 for an initial €20m.

However, he has played just 53 times in two-and-a-half seasons, failing to truly dislodge Marcos Alonso as the Blues’ default left-back.
