Capello advises Fonseca: 'Don't listen to Roman radio'

Former coach Fabio Capello has advised Roma tactician Paulo Fonseca to not listen to Roman radio stations.

After back-to-back defeats to Milan and Udinese, the fans have voiced their concern and Capello has claimed the coach and his players must avoid being influenced by the local Radio stations.

“I didn’t like the Roma I saw over the last two games,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia. “Against Milan the team walked on the pitch.

“The advice I can give to Fonseca and that I gave my players, is not to listen to Roman radio stations.”

Capello recalled his first press conference as Giallorossi coach.

“I said, I only speak with the national radio stations and not those inside Raccordo Anulare [an orbital motorway that encircles Rome].

“In Rome, when you are doing well, it’s all great. As soon as you are struggling, it’s hell. There’s no balance in Roman radios. The best thing is that the lads won’t be influenced by all this.

“They tell the people to contest. To me, they protested with 4000 people because we lost against Atalanta. The lads are influenced by the radio stations.

“All those who coached Roma can say that there’s a problem with the radio. Not all players are strong enough to cope with criticism. In Madrid it was the same, even if they were national radio stations.”
