Diego Perotti’s father claims the Roma winger would love to join Boca Juniors, calling it ‘my life’s dream’ to see them win the Copa Libertadores together.
Perotti was sent off less than half an hour into Roma’s 2-0 defeat to Udinese on Thursday, and Hugo was asked about the incident.
“It’s unusual to see football without fans,” he told Crack Deportivo.
“It doesn’t seem competitive to me and it doesn’t get me going, even if there have been some decent games.
“You saw how no-one protested Diego’s dismissal. It’s like a training session, it gets boring.
“I sent him a message and said: ‘If you feel like talking, call me.’ I know how he can react and how I would’ve reacted. He must be feeling annoyed, angry, bitter, sad.
“He’ll surely ask me to call him and we’ll talk. To top it off, it was unintentional, although [his red card] was one.”
When asked about a potential return to Boca, Diego’s dad was far more passionate.
“He has one more year on his contract. I know there are two teams from Europe who want to sign him.
“He’s very excited about coming back, like he was last time because he wanted to play with Riquelme, his lifelong idol.
“Boca have to want him too, although I know the fans will want him if he stays fit.
“I hope, as a father, I can see him again wearing Boca’s shirt, I’d be proud. Seeing him lift the Copa Libertadores with Boca is my life’s dream. It would complete me.”
