Paolo Maldini could stay at Milan but in a different role to his current post of technical director, it is reported.
Maldini was promoted to technical director last summer, but his powers are about to be absorbed by Red Bull chief Ralf Rangnick.
Instead of getting rid of him completely, Il Giornale writes CEO Ivan Gazidis recently spoke to the 52-year-old about taking up a different position in the club’s hierarchy.
Prior to technical director, Maldini was Milan’s director for sporting strategy and development, working under Leonardo for a season.
Meanwhile, the newspaper claims Rangnick’s arrival could be brought forward if coach Stefano Pioli struggles in his next few games.
