“Zinedine Zidane is the reason for Hakimi’s transfer to Inter,” agent Alejandro Camano told Moroccan newspaper Al Mountakhab.

“He has to explain why he never even called the player. I don’t think a return to Real Madrid would be opportune, considering the presence of a player like Dani Carvajal, but I am certain Hakimi’s future will be luminous after this step forward.”

It has been widely reported that Hakimi turned down more money from clubs such as Bayern Munich and Manchester City in order to choose Inter.

His agent confirms that Conte was decisive during the negotiation process.

“The coach was in constant contact with Hakimi, talked to him about the project at the club, so we decided for the transfer to Inter.

“I think when a top level coach like Conte contacts you and is really determined to have you in his squad, that is the proof you’re an important part of this plan.”
