There were 30 deaths related to COVID-19 in Italy over the last 24 hours, with 137 new positive cases, but now under 1,000 people in hospital.
Italy has already been in Stage 3 of the pandemic response for several weeks, re-opening practically everything after the lockdown, but still maintaining social distancing measures and encouraging use of masks.
Although there has been an uptick in the daily deaths – 30 registered today, taking the total since the crisis began in February to 34,899 – the number of new positive cases did drop back down to 137 out of 43,219 tests.
The good news is that another two patients left intensive care, so only 70 remain, while there are 940 people hospitalised with symptoms.
There are 13,232 people self-isolating at home with minor or no symptoms.
The pandemic is now localised in four regions, with positive cases in Lombardy (53), Emilia-Romagna (31), Tuscany (19) and Veneto (14).
All the other regions had five or under new positive cases, with seven regions registering zero.
