Naturally, the questions posed to the director were all about his own future and that of Stefano Pioli, as there were again reports today that the deal was done to hire coach Rangnick next season.

“The team has already shown faith in its coach, directors and players, showed it does not suffer the distractions from outside,” Maldini told DAZN.

“After all, none of this is new. I don’t know if there will be room for me at Milan in future. I just want to reach the end of the season in a positive way, as we still have a lot of games to play and can do good things, then we can decide on our future.”

Maldini was asked if he wanted to remain with the Rossoneri and the response was unexpected.

“It’s a difficult question. My bond with Milan will never be up for debate.”

What of the reports that Maldini has disagreements with CEO Ivan Gazidis over how to proceed, after the former Arsenal chief already clashed with Zvonimir Boban?

“We speak often and there are no definitive situations, we tend to wait for the end of the season.”
