Zielinski close to new Napoli deal

Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has revealed he could announce a new deal ‘in the next few days’ and aims to fight for the Scudetto in 2020-21.

The Poland international has praised coach Gennaro Gattuso ahead of the match against the coach’s former club Milan, and claims he is planning with the Partenopei.

“Gattuso has a very strong charisma, like when he played. He’s a tough guy,” Zielinski told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have been negotiating for some time, but I hope the announcement will arrive in the next few days and I hope the announcement will arrive in the next few days.

“I feel good here and I want to continue at Napoli.”

The 26-year-old arrived from Udinese in August 2016 and has become a vital part of the Azzurri setup.

He has contributed two goals and three assists so far this term and with Napoli on the rise under Gattuso, he hopes to be back in the fight for the Scudetto next term.

“Yes, we have a very strong squad, even if we must see who will remain here. However, new players will come and we will continue to be strong.”
