Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has told his teammates to expect ‘an open game’ against Atalanta in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The two sides were paired together in yesterday’s draw and Silva warned the Dea would be no pushovers.

“It’s the Champions League, and every team that’s there has deserved to reach the quarter-finals,” he told PSG TV.

“Atalanta are a team that causes a lot of problems for their opponents. Their three forwards are very fast, and it will be difficult.

“It’s the Champions League, and every team that’s there has deserved to reach the quarter-finals,” he told PSG TV.

“Atalanta are a team that causes a lot of problems for their opponents. Their three forwards are very fast, and it will be difficult.

“It will be an open game because they play good football, and we do too. I think the team that manages to convert their chances will be the one to win.”

The former Milan defender is not extending his contract with the French giants but will remain at their disposal for the Atalanta tie.

“We’re first of all going to think about our friendly games. If we manage to prepare well then we’ll be able to reach a high level, because we have high level players.

“We’ll need to work well and prepare well before playing the two finals of the domestic Cup competitions, which are very important. The squad is aware of that.”
