Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli praised soon-to-be Viola man Sofyan Amrabat after the 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona on Sunday. 'We'll be waiting for him'.
The Viola faced their new midfielder on Sunday and the current leader in the middle hailed his performance at the Artemio Franchi.
“I compliment him, he’s a great player,” Castrovilli told Fiorentina’s official channel. “Today, we must think about the present. I hope he continues like this and we’ll be waiting for him to come.”
Amrabat provided the assist when Davide Faraoni sprung the offside trap and scored with an extraordinary bicycle-kick, but Patrick Cutrone managed to save a point for the home side in the 96th minute.
“In the first half we started with a low line,” Castrovilli added. “In the second half, we followed our man and deserved the draw, showing that we never give up.
“Going home with zero points would have been sad and instead this point helps us mentally for the next game.
“We are all happy for Patrick because he always gives his best and he deserves it. We have many battles left, it’s not over.”
Fiorentina sit 13th with six games remaining and are currently six points behind the top half of Serie A. Next up are Lecce at the Via del Mare on Wednesday.
