2022 World Cup schedule confirmed

The schedule for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is confirmed, with four group games a day and the Final on December 18.

That the tournament is being held in the winter is nothing new, given the excessively-hot summer climate in Qatar.

Now, FIFA has announced that there will be four games per group-stage matchday over a span of 12 days.

Qatar’s small size also means fans are able to travel to two matches in the same day, without the need to fly.

The first match will be played at the 60,000-seater Al Bayt Stadium on Monday 21 November at 13:00 local time*.

Other kick-off times for group games have been set for 16:00, 19:00 and 22:00, with local time UTC/GMT+3 or CET+2.

The World Cup Final will take place on Saturday 18 December at 18:00 local time (15:00 GMT/16:00 CET), at the 80,000-seater Lusail Stadium.

The draw for the 32-team competition is currently slated to take place ‘after the March 2022 international match calendar qualifying window’.
